Job summary

Canada's National Ballet School in Toronto is seeking a part-time Ballet Teacher for Women\'s Technique & Pointe within the Comprehensive Dance Programs. You will deliver high-quality instruction to young dancers and collaborate with artistic faculty to support curriculum delivery and performances.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Teach Ballet and Pointe classes using the NBS curriculum.

  • Assist with Intensive Ballet Program auditions by serving on audition panels or teaching classes.
  • Track attendance, complete written assessments and progress reports.
  • Attend meetings and professional development opportunities; contribute to best practices.

Reporting to the Head ofComprehensive DancePrograms, theComprehensive Dance ProgramsBallet Teacher – Women's Technique & Pointedelivers high-quality ballet instruction within NBS'Young Dancers Program.   • Deliver Exceptional Dance Instruction:Teach assignedBalletand Pointe classes using the NBS curriculum while fostering technical, artistic, and personal growth in every student

  • Prepare Students for Performances:Rehearse, stage, and prepare choreography for performances and other presentation opportunities while supporting students during events asrequired
  • Participate in Auditions and Recruitment:Assist with Intensive Ballet Program auditions by serving on audition panels and/or teaching audition classes as assigned.
  • Maintain Student Records:Track attendance, complete writtenassessmentsand progress reports, and contribute toaccuratestudent documentation
  • Collaborate with Faculty:Attend meetings, professional development opportunities, and training sessions while contributing to shared best practices and continuous program improvement
  • Maintain Professional Standards:Remain current with dance education best practices and uphold all NBS policies, procedures, and safeguarding standards

  • Teaching qualifications and/or a degree in Dance is considered an asset
  • Five or more years of teaching experience in ballet or related dance programs
  • Strong knowledge of classical ballet technique, withexpertisein Women's Technique and Pointe
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning styles
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Collaborative mindset with flexibility, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous learning
  • A caring, student-centred approach that nurtures confidence, artistic growth, and a lifelong appreciation of dance
  • Sound judgement, professionalism, and discretion when working with youth and confidential information

An unedited excerpt of a class is preferred, as it provides the best representation of their teaching approach and classroom environment.
