Job summary

Universal Rail Solutions in Western Canada is seeking an experienced Ballast Regulator Operator to join our rail production team. The role focuses on shaping, distributing, and profiling ballast to maintain track geometry and drainage, with emphasis on safety and quality workmanship.

You will perform shoulder work, brooming, finishing, and daily equipment inspections, travel across sites for 5–21 day assignments, and work days, nights, weekends, and extended shifts as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one season operating a ballast regulator in a railway production environment.
  • Proven ability to shape ballast and finish track sections to spec.
  • Strong understanding of railway maintenance activities and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate ballast regulator per railway rules and procedures.
  • Shape, distribute, and profile ballast to maintain track geometry.
  • Perform shoulder work, brooming, and finishing after tamping and surfacing.
  • Conduct daily inspections and basic maintenance of equipment.
  • Report defects and work with crews to meet project goals.
