Dear Grain is seeking a Full-time Junior Pastry Chef with baking experience to join our bakery.
We are looking for someone caring, passionate, and dynamic who is interested in committing themselves to the craft of making sourdough pastries.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately scale and prepare recipes for a variety of baked goods, including batters, doughs, cookies, scones, loaves, and cakes, following company recipes and guidelines.
- Mix, portion, bake, and prepare pastries and other baked goods according to daily production needs and quality standards.
- Follow the daily production plan and support a smooth workflow within the bakery team.
- Assist with team coordination by helping distribute tasks, monitoring progress, and supporting colleagues based on production priorities.
- Support other Production and Bakery Managers with team leadership, operational, and production needs when required.
- Oversee packaging and organizing orders to ensure accuracy, quality, and freshness for distribution.
- Support seasonal product development and continuous improvement of pastry, cookie, scone, and cake offerings.
- Monitor product inventory and ingredient levels, restocking supplies and notifying management of low stock when necessary.
- Organize and maintain freezers, refrigerators, and storage areas while ensuring proper labelling and FIFO rotation.
- Maintain high quality control standards by monitoring products and correcting issues when necessary.
- Assist with team coordination by helping distribute tasks, monitoring progress, and supporting colleagues based on production priorities.
- Communicate operational issues, equipment concerns, or ingredient quality problems to the Bakery Manager.
- Help train and support new team members to ensure proper procedures and smooth integration into the team.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe workspace, including equipment cleaning and dishwashing when required.
- Follow all company policies, equipments operations, sanitation and health standards, safety procedures and protocols.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment while supporting efficient bakery operations.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Highly dedicated professional with a strong work ethic and a willingness to take on challenges and support team goals.
- Detail oriented along with attention to detail will be a key asset
- Able to lift 40 lbs comfortably and work in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment
SCHEDULE
- Monday to Friday, between 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (four 10-hour shifts per week)
- Weekend availability may be required in the future
