Job summary

Otter Co-op in Langley, BC is hiring a Part-Time Bakery Associate for our Retail Centre. You will measure, mix, bake, decorate, and display goods, while delivering friendly customer service and ensuring proper storage and rotation of food items.

The ideal candidate has bakery experience, food safety awareness, and a strong work ethic. This role requires physical tasks and open availability across mornings, afternoons, and some weekends.

Qualifications

• Previous baking experience preferred.
• Retail/customer service experience is an asset.
• Food safety certification is an asset.
• Excellent communication and ability to work in a fast-paced team or independently.
• Physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Measure and combine ingredients and safely use mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to bake goods.
• Decorate and display finished products and features.
• Maintain proper storage, labeling and rotation of food products.
• Greet customers, answer questions, make recommendations, accept orders and provide exceptional service.
• Keep records relating to inventory and production levels.
• Take client information and ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
• Clean and restock workstations and sanitize all equipment.
• Follow opening and closing procedures.
• Contribute to the team in living the values of Integrity, Community and Excellence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Otter Co-op is now hiring for a Part-Time Bakery Associate for our Retail Centre located in Langley, BC.

What you’ll do:

• Measuring and combining ingredients and safely using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to make baked goods, such as cookies, bread, cakes, etc
• Decorating and displaying finished products and features
• Add a quality finish to baked items and packed products
• Maintain proper storage, labelling and rotation of food products
• Greeting customers, answering questions, making recommendations, accepting orders, and providing exceptional customer service
• Keeping records relating to inventory, and production levels
• Taking client information and ensuring that orders are fulfilled accurately and on time
• Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift
• Follow opening and closing procedures
• Contribute to the team in living the corporate Values of Integrity, Community and Excellence
• Perform other duties as assigned

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Retail Store Operations and:

• Previous Baking experience preferred
• Previous Retail / Customer Service an asset
• Previous experience handling food along with a food safe certification is an asset
• Must have excellent communication skills, be able to work efficiently in a team setting as well as independently in a fast-paced environment
• Must have a strong work ethic
• This is a physical job requiring the ability to stand for long periods of time and lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds on occasion
• Must be committed to a SAFE working environment
• The ideal candidate will have open availability 7 days a week to work a variety of shifts, that include early mornings, afternoons and late evenings. Preference for candidates available on weekends
• This position is based at the Retail Centre, though it may require on some occasions to travel and work at other locations as business needs arise
