Job summary

Government of Alberta is seeking a Crown Prosecutor in the Bail unit to prosecute criminal and provincial offences with a focus on bail hearings. The role requires a law degree and active bar status in Alberta, with prior bail hearing experience preferred.

This is a temporary full-time position ending October 4, 2027, located in Edmonton or Calgary, with a rotating three-day/three-evening shift pattern. Candidates will work within ACPS to ensure timely proceedings, conduct legal research, draft

Qualifications

• LLB or JD required.
• Active membership or immediate eligibility for the Law Society of Alberta.
• Legal work experience including bail hearings.

Responsibilities

• Act as counsel at first instance bail hearings.
• Review files for bail positions and related orders.
• Conduct bail applications before Justices of the Peace (virtually).
• Appear in court and make submissions on release or detention.
