Job summary

Dortmans Bros Barn Equip Inc. is seeking a full-time Back Barn Service and Installation Technician to operate from our Salford, ON location. The role involves installing, aligning, and servicing industrial barn equipment for farmers, with responsibilities including parts replacement and customer training.

Ideal candidates have dairy/agricultural familiarity, strong basics in electronics and mechanics, and the ability to work in varying conditions, including evenings and weekends when required.

Qualifications

• Previous dairy, poultry and hog in-barn equipment experience preferred.
• Experience or knowledge in electronics and mechanics.
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings.
• Availability to work on call hours (evenings/weekends).
• Farming or agriculture background is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and equipment per layout plans using hand and power tools.
• Test, inspect, and examine machinery; adjust, repair, and replace defective parts as needed.
• Provide customer support and recommendations to farmers; manage and communicate concerns or complaints.
• Provide comprehensive training to customers on operation of installed equipment.
• Provide customer training on maintenance, adjustments and repairs of installed equipment.

What You Will Do

• As an in-barn Service and Installation Technician, you will install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools
• Test, inspect and examine machinery and equipment; adjust, repair, and replace defective parts as necessary in a timely, well -organized fashion
• Provide customer support and recommendations to farmers; effectively manage and communicate any concerns, problems, or complaints
• Provide comprehensive training to customers on the operation of newly installed equipment.
• Provide customer training on maintenance, adjustments and repairs of newly installed equipment

Job Requirements and Working Conditions

• Able to lift heavy objects
• Work in small or tight spaces
• Able to work at heights
• Not afraid to get dirty
• Work as member of a crew, alongside farmers/customers, and/or alone
• Must be able to work in all weather, indoors and outdoors.
• Standing for long periods
• Must be willing to work evenings and weekends if needed

What You Bring
