Job summary

The City of Thunder Bay is seeking a part-time babysitter to provide a safe, engaging environment for children under supervision of the Program Supervisor Children, Youth, & Events. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, managing activities, communicating with children and parents, and adhering to staff rules.

Must be 16+, have experience with children, and complete PVSC, First Aid and CPR within three months.

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor Children, Youth, & Events, the babysitter is responsible for providing a safe, fun environment for children to play in.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be responsible for the safety, discipline and activities for all of the children.
  • Communicate in a positive and friendly manner to the children and parents.
  • Adhere to the rules and staff code of behaviour. Approved clothing and name tag must be worn.
  • Enforce all Complex rules and regulations with respect to staff and users.
  • Change diapers.
  • Organize small group activities.
  • Request necessary supplies and equipment and report need for maintenance or repair.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age of 16. Must have experience working with children.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC);
  • Must obtain 1st Aid and 2 Person CPR within three months of employment;
  • Must obtain WHMIS and Customer Service Training.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Part time (not to exceed 24 hours per week)
  • Times: 8:45am to 9:00pm
  • Dates: Monday to Saturday
  • May have to work flexible hours
