The Opportunity

The Mental Health Clinician ensures the delivery of mental health support to residents and nursing staff, working as part of the management team to uphold high standards of care.

What Is In It For You
  • Promote resident satisfaction and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist nursing staff with assessments and care plans.
  • Supervise nursing staff and manage mental health issues related to residents, families, and advocates.
  • Foster an interdisciplinary approach to care.
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise and provide staff development in mental health practices.
  • Oversee building operations in the absence of senior management.
  • Uphold organizational values and ethics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need
  • Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
  • At least 4 years of crisis assessment and stabilization experience in a community mental health setting.
  • Knowledge of community resources for addiction and mental health; training in critical incident stress management is a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years in a nursing leadership role with knowledge of mental health care practices.
  • Training in Psychological First Aid.
  • Understanding of current nursing practices, laws, and standards in the Continuing Care sector.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
