Job summary

Canadian Tire Corporation is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines on Azure-based platforms such as Azure Synapse and Databricks. You will partner with Finance to define data models and KPI metrics for financial reporting and downstream analytics.

You will ensure data quality, validation, and governance, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to align on data definitions and reporting standards.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related roles supporting enterprise reporting and analytics.
• Advanced SQL proficiency for data transformation, reconciliation, and validation.
• Hands-on experience with Python and Spark in Azure Synapse and/or Databricks environments.
• Experience building ETL/ELT workflows using Azure cloud-based data platforms.
• Strong ability to gather, clarify, and document business requirements, and translate them into scalable data solutions.
• Experience working with Git-based repositories for code management and promotion across environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines on Azure-based data platforms (Synapse/Databricks).
• Partner with stakeholders to document requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.
• Build and maintain data models supporting financial reporting and KPI metrics.
• Execute QA testing, data quality checks, and data validation across pipelines and outputs.
• Coordinate UAT with business stakeholders and obtain formal sign-off.
• Document data flows, reconciliation rules, and metric definitions to support governance.
• Collaborate with Finance and Platform teams on data structures and deployment standards.
