Job summary

Brandt Group of Companies is seeking a Data Engineer to design, implement, and optimize scalable data pipelines using Azure, PowerBI, and AI technologies. You will drive data architecture, governance, and BI initiatives to deliver accurate insights for decision-makers across Canada, the USA, Australia, and New Zealand.

Ideal candidates will have 5–10 years of experience in data architecture with strong Azure expertise, advanced SQL skills, and proficiency in Python and PowerBI.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of proven experience in data architecture with a heavy emphasis on Microsoft Azure.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent enterprise experience).
• Demonstrated ability to break down complex, ambiguous processes and explain technical concepts to non-technical senior leadership.
• Deep SQL mastery with expertise in query optimization, execution plans, indexing, joins, window functions, and CTEs.
• Data modeling experience (relational and dimensional, Kimball/Inmon) and data warehousing across enterprise systems.
• Azure ecosystem expertise: Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
• Proficiency in Python and PowerBI (DAX and Power Query optimization).
• Familiarity with integrating machine learning models and AI tools into data workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design, data modeling, and implementation of scalable data processing systems within Azure.
• Define data strategies with senior management and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Advance enterprise data stack by establishing data governance and architecture best practices.
• Develop and optimize robust ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data into Azure Data Factory and Data Lake Storage.
• Monitor and optimize data workflows to reduce processing times and costs; improve overall system efficiency.
• Architect data models feeding PowerBI dashboards to deliver actionable insights.
