Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating dump trucks and float trailers.
• Valid Class AZ driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Experience operating a manual transmission.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
• Able to safely enter and exit trucks and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and drive dump trucks with float trailers to transport equipment and materials to various job sites.
• Safely load, unload, secure, chain, and transport equipment and materials.
• Complete required pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
• Maintain accurate paperwork, electronic logs, inspection records, and other required documentation.
• Maintain regular communication with the Dispatcher, Supervisors, Foremen, and other members of the operations team.
• Inspect and monitor the condition of trucks, trailers, and equipment and report maintenance or defects.
• Ensure loads and equipment are properly secured prior to transport.
• Operate all vehicles in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and applicable regulations.
• Maintain trucks, trailers, and work areas in a safe, clean, and professional condition.

AZ Truck Driver – Full-Time

M. Davis Landscape & Design Inc. is seeking an experienced and dependable AZ Truck Driver to join our team in a full-time position.

As one of the largest landscape construction companies in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario, we offer the opportunity to work with an established team on a wide variety of landscape construction projects.

Working under the direction of our Landscape Management Team and Dispatcher, the AZ Truck Driver will be responsible for transporting equipment and materials to and from job sites while ensuring our trucks, trailers, and equipment are transported safely and professionally.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating dump trucks and float trailers.
• Valid Class AZ Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract.

• Maintain trucks, trailers, and work areas in a safe, clean, and professional condition.
• Work in a manner that protects the health and safety of yourself, coworkers, the public, and others at the workplace.
• Understand the hazards associated with assigned work and follow the required controls, safe work practices, and safe job procedures.
• Properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE), protective devices, and safety equipment.
• Immediately report incidents, unsafe conditions, hazards, equipment defects, and safety concerns to your Supervisor.
• Never remove, disable, or interfere with guards, safeguards, or other protective devices.
• Follow all M. Davis Landscape & Design Inc. Health and Safety policies, procedures, and workplace requirements.
• Complete and maintain required workplace training, including:
  • WHMIS
  • 4-Step Health & Safety Awareness
  • Workplace Violence & Harassment for Workers
  • AODA training
  • Other company or job-specific training as required

Position Details

This is a full-time position.
