Job summary

Canada Cartage is seeking an AZ Truck Driver for full-time work based in Cornwall, Ontario. You will cover local routes into surrounding areas and parts of Quebec, with days and evenings shifts and potential weekend work.

Qualifications

• Valid AZ driver’s license.
• Bondable and legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Clean CVOR and driver’s abstract.
• Verifiable recent commercial driving experience (within the past 3 months to 1 year).
• Strong understanding of road safety regulations, hours of service, and load securement.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles to transport freight across city/local routes.
• Complete deliveries and pickups to customer locations within Cornwall in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
• Operate dry van equipment in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Secure freight using appropriate equipment such as straps, chains, and load bars, ensuring compliance with load-securement standards.
• Transport general freight in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and cargo securement; promptly report any issues to the maintenance department for timely repairs.
• Accurately complete all required documentation, including e-logs, inspection reports, delivery paperwork, and incident reports.
• Maintain compliance with hours-of-service regulations, safety policies, and company procedures. Maintain flexibility to meet operational and customer demands, including variable schedules, overtime, weekends, or overnight runs as required.

Core Requirements

• Valid AZ driver's license
• Bondable and legally eligible to work in Canada
• Clean CVOR and driver’s abstract
• Verifiable recent commercial driving experience (within the past 3 months to 1 year)
• Strong understanding of road safety regulations, hours of service, and load securement
• Experience operating commercial vehicles in winter driving conditions
• Ability to accurately complete eLogs, vehicle inspection reports, and delivery documentation
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as required
• Strong customer service and communication skills with a professional, safety-focused approach

Role-Specific Requirements

• Minimum 2 Years of verifiable AZ driving experience
• Strong knowledge of Cornwall and surrounding areas
• LTL experience is an asset
• Ability to safely perform hand-bombing, including manual loading and unloading of freight, as required
