Job summary

Gordon Food Service Canada is seeking an AZ Transit Driver for the Stittsville Depot who will transport trailers during night shifts. You will deliver to volume customers and ensure safe, timely movements using refrigerated vans.

The role requires a valid Class 1 license, 2+ years of AZ experience, and the ability to work in various weather conditions. The position offers a starting hourly rate with benefits and growth opportunities within a 125-year family-owned company.

Qualifications

• Valid AZ license with clean driving abstract.

• Good communication skills, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, accurate, and timely deliveries of Gordon Food Service products.
• Operate loaded and empty trailers during night transit as scheduled.
• Coordinate with supervisor/dispatcher for assignments and on-time performance.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate paperwork and records for deliveries and pickups.

Position: AZ Transit Driver - Stittsville Depot

Schedule

• Sun/Mon/Thurs/Friday
• Night Shifts | 5:30-7:30 PM starting time

Position Summary

Presents a positive image to Gordon Food Service (GFS) while transporting loaded and empty trailers from GFS Distribution Centers or from point-to-point via night transit in a timely manner. Presents a positive image when delivering to our volume customers. Operates GFS equipment in a professional and safe manner demonstrating attention to detail, safe work habits, and working knowledge of refrigerated van.

Skills, Knowledge And Ability Required

• Valid AZ driver’s license with a clean commercial driver’s abstract
• Previous professional driving experience is preferred
• Ability to work in a variety of weather, temperature and road conditions

Essential Functions

• Ensures safe, accurate, timely, and efficient deliveries of GFS products.
• Transports loaded and empty trailers from GFS Distribution Centers or from point-to-point via night transit in a timely manner.
• Collaborates with the Supervisor and Leadership and/or dispatcher for work assignments, changes in assignments and on-time delivery performance.
• Perform proper equipment maintenance, monitor reefer temperature, and reports mechanical issues and damages in timely manner.
• Complete daily check-ins in a timely manner with no errors.
• Collaborates with management and sales representatives to communicate customer concerns.
• Perform daily pre/post trip inspection of vehicles and equipment. Completes check in process accurately and on time. Manage paperwork to include register, credits, pick-ups, etc
• Develop and maintain a good working relationship with other GFS employees.
• Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas. Attending department meetings
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Valid Class 1 license is a MUST
• A minimum of 2 years of AZ driving experience is required.
• Requires punctuality, problem solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and also function in a team environment.
• Must be goal oriented with a positive “can-do” attitude.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of this job including lifting, pushing, pulling of product.
