Job summary

Elgin Motor Freight, a division of Challenger Motor Freight, bases its Owner Operators in London, Ontario, with a 300–500 mile radius from the terminal. Dispatches are prioritized by driver, customer, and load requirements, avoiding NYC dispatches when possible.

Drivers should be prepared for at least 5 days of 24-hour availability, with weekend work possible, and routes covering eastern U.S. states andGreater Montreal.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• One year of verifiable commercial vehicle driving experience.
• Clean driving record with no CVOR violations.
• Zero convictions or out-of-service events on CVOR abstract (preferred).
• Criminal record search with no offences under Criminal Code of Canada.
• Valid Class AZ driver’s licence.
• FAST CARD is a requirement for this division.

Responsibilities

• Owner Operators operate within a 300–500 mile radius from the London terminal.
• Travel lanes include states east of the Mississippi, mainly NJ, PA, VA, and parts of Midwest near the 401 corridor to Greater Montreal.
• Dispatches are prioritized by driver, customer, and load requirements with no forced NYC dispatch.
• Be available a minimum of 5 full days of 24-hour availability or more, and operate within legal hours, including weekend work when needed.

Job description

Elgin Motor Freight is a division of Challenger Motor Freight.

This position is based out of London, ON.

Owner Operators run a 300 – 500-mile radius from the terminal. Lanes of travel are states east of the Mississippi river, including East Coast States, mainly NJ, PA, VA, Mid West some 401 corridor including Greater Montreal. All dispatches are done in a priority sequence based on driver, customer, and load requirements. There is no forced New York City (Boroughs) dispatch.
Our expectation is to have a minimum of 5 full days of 24-hour availability or more. We like to run you according to your available hours and within legal requirements, which could mean running over the weekend.

Driver requirements:

• Minimum 21 years of age
• One year of verifiable commercial vehicle driving experience *
• Clean driving record
• Maximum three demerit points (preferred)
• Zero convictions or out-of-service events on CVOR abstract (preferred)
• Criminal record search (no offences under Criminal Code of Canada)
• Valid ClassAZdriver’s licence

• A FAST CARD is a requirement for this division
