Job summary

Gordon Food Service in Ottawa is seeking an AZ Local Delivery Driver to cover delivery shifts out of Ottawa. You will load and unload goods, deliver to customer locations, and build strong customer relationships while maintaining accurate paperwork.

The role requires a valid Class 1 license, ability to lift up to 80 lbs, and weekend availability. Expect a 4:00am start, a starting wage of $31.11 per hour with increases over time, and a comprehensive benefits package with RRSP matching and profit

Qualifications

• Ensures safe, accurate, timely, and efficient deliveries of GFS products.
• Manually sorting and unloading food products and hand-wheeling them into the customer locations with the use of ramps and occasionally stairs (approx. 600 - 1000 cases/shift)
• Build and maintain good customer relationships.
• Demonstrates self-control.
• Accurately collects customer payments.
• Safeguards company funds and follows GFS banking policies.
• Performs all Sales Service functions by the 90th day of employment.
• Perform proper equipment maintenance, monitors reefer temperature, and reports mechanical issues and damages in a timely manner.
• Completes daily check-ins in a timely manner with no errors.
• Collaborates with management and sales representatives to communicate customer concerns.
• Perform daily pre/post trip inspection of vehicles and equipment.
• Completes check in process accurately and on time.
• Manages paperwork to include register, credits, pick-ups, etc.
• Develops and maintains a good working relationship with other GFS employees.
• Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas.
• Attending department meetings
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications (cont.):

• Valid Class 1 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
• Proven ability of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 80 lbs
• Eligibility for bonding and transportation of dangerous goods (TDG) certification
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• A high level of integrity and a strong work ethic, able to work with little supervision and be self-directed
• Professional demeanor under stressful situations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Availability for weekends
