Job summary

The City of Penticton is seeking a temporary full-time AWWTP Millwright in Penticton, BC. You will install, maintain, repair, troubleshoot and overhaul mechanical equipment at the Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant and related facilities.

Ideal candidates have a Red Seal Millwright certification, 5+ years in industrial maintenance, CMMS experience, and strong safety practices. Valid BC driver's license is required, with ability to work in a dynamic municipal environment.

Qualifications

• Interprovincial Red Seal Millwright Certificate (Industrial Mechanic).
• Minimum five (5) years of related industrial maintenance experience.
• Experience with pumps, rotating equipment, conveyors, gearboxes, valves and piping systems.
• Experience with CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, rebuilds and services pumps, motors, valves, blowers, conveyors, gearboxes, chemical feed systems and piping systems.
• Performs preventative and predictive maintenance programs on treatment plant and lift station equipment.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, schematics, technical drawings and equipment manuals.
• Aligns shafts, bearings, motors, pumps, couplings and rotating equipment to precise tolerances.
• Performs welding, cutting, fabrication and machining‑related duties.
• Conducts vibration analysis, inspections and condition assessments.
• Researches, sources and orders replacement parts and equipment.
• Assists in developing maintenance plans and recommends equipment upgrades and replacements.
• Operates cranes, chain falls, hoists and hydraulic lifting equipment using safe rigging practices.
• Participates in confined space entry, lockout/tagout procedures and other safety programs.
• Documents maintenance activities using CMMS.
• Assists plant operators and other trades personnel.
• Participates in emergency response and after‑hours callouts as required.
• Provides guidance and direction to apprentices, contractors and staff as assigned.

About the Opportunity

The City of Penticton is looking for a temporaryfull-time AWWTP (Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant) Millwright (2 month term), based in Penticton, B.C.

The AWWTP Millwright is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and overhaul of mechanical equipment and systems associated with the Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant, lift stations, reclaimed water facilities, and related infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Required Knowledge, Abilities & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment and systems used in wastewater facilities.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and specifications.
• Knowledge of predictive and preventative maintenance practices.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work procedures.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and communication skills.
• Proficiency using CMMS and Microsoft Office applications.

Required Education, Training & Experience

• Interprovincial Red Seal Millwright Certificate (Industrial Mechanic).
• Minimum five (5) years of related industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a wastewater, water treatment, municipal or industrial facility environment.
• Experience with pumps, rotating equipment, conveyors, gearboxes, valves, piping systems, welding and fabrication.
• Experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Confined Space Entry and Rescue Certification (asset).
• Fall Protection Certification (asset.
• Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certification (asset).
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, confined spaces and outdoor environments.
• Requires lifting, carrying, climbing, bending and working from ladders and elevated platforms.
• Must wear and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.

About the Benefits

Compensation based on skills and experience is an hourly rate of $46.22 -$50.99 (Pay Grade 17,40hours per week, CUPE), along with a host of excellent benefits including:
