Job summary

Dawn InfoTek Inc. is seeking an experienced AWS Backend Developer to join our team and support a major bank client in Canada.

The role is hybrid, requiring two days per week in the Toronto office, and features a 6-month contract with strong extension potential. Responsibilities include designing scalable backend services with TypeScript/Node.js, deploying serverless apps on AWS Lambda, and building secure APIs using AWS services.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend software development experience with TypeScript.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and the Node.js ecosystem.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
• Strong experience with AWS Lambda and serverless application development.
• Proven experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture and cloud-native development.
• Experience with databases such as DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL.
• Strong understanding of AWS IAM, authentication, authorization, and API security.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and REST APIs using TypeScript and Node.js.

We are currently seeking a AWS Backend Developer to join our dynamic team and work with one of our client, a leading bank in Canada

Contract duration: 6 months with strong possibility of extension

Role type: Hybrid (2 days a week in office required - Toronto Downtown)

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and REST APIs using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Develop, deploy, and manage serverless applications using AWS Lambda.
• Build secure, scalable, highly available, and production-ready backend services on AWS.
• Design and implement event-driven and cloud-native solutions using AWS SQS, SNS, EventBridge, API Gateway, and related services.
• Develop clean, maintainable, well-tested, and production-ready code following modern software engineering practices.
• Integrate backend services with databases, external APIs, and other AWS services.
• Implement robust logging, monitoring, error handling, alerting, and automated testing.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards, architecture decisions, and development best practices.
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, architects, and product teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while continuously improving system performance, scalability, reliability, and security.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend software development experience with TypeScript — mandatory.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and the Node.js ecosystem — mandatory.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services — mandatory.
• Strong experience with AWS Lambda and serverless application development — mandatory.
• Proven experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, scalability, and cloud-native application development.
• Experience working with databases such as DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of AWS IAM, authentication, authorization, and API security.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
• Strong understanding of clean code, SOLID principles, software engineering best practices, and code quality.
• Experience building and supporting production-grade applications in AWS environments.
