Job summary

Canada Life is seeking an AVP & Senior Counsel, Litigation, to lead the Canadian Litigation and Employment team and advise senior management on complex disputes. The role focuses on life, health, and disability-related litigation, with oversight of external counsel and strategic team leadership.

You will guide and mentor a high-performing team, partner with business units, and drive initiatives that support business goals while ensuring legal compliance across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant legal experience in litigation or employment matters.
• Strong leadership and coaching of a legal team.
• Clear and persuasive communication with senior management.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on complex disputes affecting the Company.
• Lead and develop the Litigation and Employment team with strategic priorities.
• Oversee external counsel and manage litigation matters.
• Collaborate with business units to align legal strategy with business goals.
• Engage with senior leadership and provide timely, actionable governance.
