Zurich Canada is seeking an AVP, Commercial Auto in Montreal to lead a high-performing underwriting team and drive disciplined growth across the commercial auto portfolio. You will report to the SVP and guide market-facing underwriters, building strong broker relationships and targeting profitable new business while aligning with Zurich’s risk appetite.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 7+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing.
• OR Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing.
• AND 2+ years of management experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage market facing underwriters who proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Identify new growth opportunities with key distributors for areas of responsibility.
• Ensure accounts are qualified and meet appetite with sound business opportunity.
• Conduct calls with agents/brokers/customers with a planned, well-prepared purpose.
• Oversee negotiations of Terms & Conditions and close deals.
• Ensure cross-sell within areas of responsibility to increase product density.
• Provide continuous coaching on sales best practices.
• Mentor staff to develop broker and client networks related to Industries underwritten by the BU.
• Monitor Sales Funnel and Production Metrics of the team.
• Identify market trends and coverage exposures impacting results; work with actuarial on rate structures.
• Manage relationships with producers through line of business and segment analysis for profitability.
• Market Zurich products through agency plant and brokerage community.
• Support development/maintenance of agent/broker relationships to achieve profitable growth and retention.
• Improve customer relations, profitability and productivity by analyzing branch’s new business, loss ratio, and expenses.
