Job summary

Zurich Canada is seeking an Underwriting Specialist to manage a portfolio of new and renewal business with brokers and customers. You will evaluate complex risks, structure coverage, and negotiate pricing to deliver profitable outcomes in a collaborative, market-facing role.

Reporting to the VP, Middle Market, you will mentor colleagues, contribute to underwriting excellence, and support strategic initiatives while maintaining strong broker relationships and a focus on growth and operational

Qualifications

• 7+ years of underwriting or market-facing experience.
• Experience working in time-sensitive quote turnaround for new and renewal business.
• Experience collaborating in a team environment.
• Knowledge of broker relationships to drive profitable growth.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of new and renewal business with profitable underwriting results.
• Build and maintain relationships with brokers, agents, customers and distribution partners.
• Identify opportunities aligned with underwriting appetite and growth objectives.
• Analyze risks, exposures, and tailor coverage solutions.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions to achieve profitable outcomes.
• Provide technical underwriting guidance to brokers, customers and internal stakeholders.
• Support product development, guidelines, and process improvements.
