Zurich Canada is currently looking for an AVP Pricing Actuary to manage the pricing process for our growing Programs MGA book of business.

Reporting to the Actuarial Manager for Transactional & Programs Pricing, you will provide professional actuarial support and advice to actuarial business partners, including insights into risks, underlying performance, and implications for the business with minimal supervision. This role would also assist in the training of less experienced personnel.

What you will do
  • Support the pricing of new/renewal business and development of effective premium/rating structures in complex environments and lines of business.
  • Manage profit margins on new and renewal business and assist in the monitoring of portfolio performance.
  • With appropriate review, coordinate, prepare and perform actuarial analyses as it relates to pricing adequacy and strategic direction.
  • Support Market Facing and Product Underwriting on pricing decisions.
  • Provide consultation and technical expertise on actuarial models and risk issues.
  • Drive the design, testing, and maintenance of pricing models and tools.
  • Interface with regulators and auditors on pricing issues as required.
  • Remain current with regulatory/market conditions and apply this knowledge in pricing.
  • Take a lead role in pricing accounts, performing risk transfer analysis, and reviewing collateral.
  • May interact with external customers and clients through the pricing of large, complex products and individual accounts.
Job Qualifications

What you bring to the table:

Required:

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including associate degree.
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree.
  • AND 8 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certification.
  • OR 13 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification.

Preferred:
Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management) and knowledge/skills reflective of a senior practitioner.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
