Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Avionics Mechanical Design and Analysis Engineer III to own ruggedized packaging for spacecraft avionics. You’ll work at the intersection of mechanical design, electrical integration, and space-environment survival, driving from concept through flight release with a curious, collaborative team.

You’ll lead complex assemblies, perform thermal and structural analyses, apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5, mentor engineers, and ensure compliance with security requirements.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years designing electromechanical assemblies or avionics packaging.
• Active TS security clearance.
• Strong 3D CAD skills; Creo/Pro-E experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 drawing practices.
• Experience integrating PCBAs, connectors, and cable/harness interfaces.
• Knowledge of ruggedized electronics design including thermal management, EMI shielding.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

• Own complex avionics packaging assemblies across full lifecycle.
• Partner with electrical, systems, thermal, structures, manufacturing, quality, and test engineers to architect integrated packaging solutions.
• Drive thermal, structural, vibration, and fatigue analyses and lead trade studies.
• Deliver models, drawings, specifications, interface control documents, and release packages.
• Apply GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 for manufacturing.
• Shape environmental test campaigns end-to-end.
• Mentor less-experienced engineers, lead design reviews, and engage suppliers.
• Perform work in accordance with security requirements and protect sensitive data.
