Job description

Avionics Engineer

Aversan Inc. (www.aversan.com) is a trusted multi-service engineering and electronics manufacturing company. Aversan delivers leading-edge and reliable safety-critical electronics and software systems to the aerospace, defense, and space industries.

We are currently seeking a qualified Avionics/Electrical Engineer. The ideal candidate will have expertise in avionics and electrical systems, including flight displays, communication, navigation, and aircraft survivability equipment. The role requires excellent analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with fluency in French and English to collaborate with teams, suppliers, and clients outside Quebec.

Responsibilities:
  1. Analyze project, production, and certification requirements and develop technical solutions related to avionics and aircraft electrical systems.
  2. Support the integration of systems, including the choice of components, the compatibility of interfaces, and the drafting of electrical diagrams, and identify the installation requirements of the systems.
  3. Development of avionics system requirements and management, systems specifications, architecture, and interfaces with other aircraft systems.
  4. Coordination with avionics system suppliers in the development, integration, and testing of displays, flight instruments, communication and navigation systems, sensor and sighting systems, vehicle health systems and vehicle management systems.
  5. Prepare test plans and test procedures, analyze results and write qualification reports for functional and certification tests at the components and aircraft level.
  6. Prepare analyses in support of the certification of installed or modified systems (electrical loads, thermal, support for safety analyses, EMC, HIRF and lightning at the systems and at the aircraft level).
  7. Support LRU/system testing, Systems Integration Laboratory (SIL) testing and troubleshooting.
  8. Support aircraft ground and flight testing.
  9. Support first article installation on aircraft.
  10. Review supplier technical documentation.
  11. This position requires communication in English with teams outside Quebec and/or its suppliers, partners, and customers outside Quebec.
  12. The candidate will be part of the Canadian Governmental Programs team, based in Mirabel, reporting to the system engineering group.
Required qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical/avionics engineering.
  2. 5 years of pertinent experience in aerospace or equivalent working-level experience.
  3. Experience on a military aircraft and/or with the Defense National Department is an asset.
  4. Knowledge of the CHS tool (Capital Logic) is an asset.
  5. Works independently and develops solutions on intermediate complexity tasks.
  6. Good analytical and leadership skills.
  7. Strong work ethic and self-motivation.
  8. Excellent command of French is required.
  9. Excellent command of English is required for this position, as it involves communication in English with teams outside of Quebec and/or its suppliers, partners, and clients outside of Quebec.
  10. Frequent interorganizational and outside customer contacts.
  11. Represents the discipline in providing/presenting solutions to technical issues.
  12. Working-level knowledge or mastery with some or all the following AE areas is required:
  13. Avionic and electrical systems:
  14. PFD, MFD, EICAS, Cockpit controls, Digital Map
  15. AHRS, GPS, IFF, ADS-B, TCAS, ILS, Radar Altimeter, Air Data
  16. Automatic flight control management system
  17. Communications Systems: VHF/UHF, HF, SATCOM, Datalink, ICS
  18. CVR and FDR
  19. Aircraft Survivability Equipment (CMDS, MAWS, RLWR)
  20. Electrical power generation, distribution, and protection (DC/AC, 28 V and HV systems)
  21. Electrical power storage devices
  22. Lighting, internal and external (commercial and NVIS)
  23. Equipment qualification standards: RTCA/DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, RTCA/DO-178, RTCA/DO-254.
  24. Civil aircraft and systems certification standards: FAR/AWM 27/527 and/or FAR/AWM 29/529
  25. Systems safety and Reliability assessments: SAE ARP 4754A, ARP 4761, MIL-HDBK-217
