Job summary

ITPS Canada Ltd. is seeking Aviation Life Support Equipment Engineers to join our ALSE Department in London, Ontario and North Bay, Ontario.

You will maintain flight equipment such as parachutes, ejection seats, helmets and oxygen masks, ensuring compatibility with aircraft and adhering to Transport Canada regulations. Ideal candidates will have a two- to three-year college program in avionics or electronics, 5+ years of related ALSE/egress experience, and Parachute Rigger certification.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a two to three-year college program in avionics or electronics or equivalent training.
  • 5+ years of related Egress experience.
  • Martin Baker Type Ejection Seat Maintenance experience or training preferred.
  • VS1-BRI-8 U2 Type Seats -Level 2 Maintenance experience or training preferred.
  • Must have completed Parachute Rigger course.
  • Experience in the use of Special Test Equipment.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in: fitment/removal of ejection seats; maintaining records; training aircrew; briefing pilots and ground crew; training first responders.
  • Equipment related certification is an asset.
  • Leadership, communication and people skills; attention to detail and results oriented.

  • Participating as an ALSE member on the safety council and in air safety meetings.
  • Taking inventory of ITPS ALSE equipment on fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft.
  • Onboarding survival equipment requirements per Transport Canada regulation.
  • Numbering/IDing ITPS ALSE equipment for recording.
  • Issuing and returning record procedures for ITPS ALSE equipment.
  • Ensuring compatibility of the ALSE equipment with aircraft.
  • Periodic inspection schedules for all ITPS ALSE equipment on and off aircraft.
  • Conducting equipment inspection, fitting, adjustment, and aircrew instruction in survival, use and care of the support equipment.

Position Overview

ITPS is looking for Aviation Life Support Equipment Engineers to join our Aviation Life Support Equipment Departments, where you will be primarily involved in the maintenance of flight equipment including parachutes, ejection seats, flight helmets, oxygen masks, and other life-saving equipment used in the day-to-day operations at ITPS and ITTC. Our ideal candidates will have an eye for detail, meticulous work ethic, and the ability to problem solve issues with partial or incomplete information

Duties
  • Participating as an ALSE member on the safety council and in air safety meetings;
  • Taking inventory of ITPS ALSE equipment on fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft;
  • Onboarding survival equipment requirements as per Transport Canada regulation;
  • Numbering/IDing ITPS ALSE equipment for recording;
  • Issuing and returning record procedures for ITPS ALSE equipment;
  • Ensuring compatibility of the ITPS ALSE equipment with aircraft;
  • Periodic inspection schedules for all ITPS ALSE equipment on and off aircraft;
  • Conducting equipment inspection, fitting, adjustment, and aircrew instruction in survival, use and care of the support equipment;
  • Inspecting, maintaining, and evaluating life support equipment and activities, to include receipt, handling and storage of the life support equipment;
  • Using appropriate references and other publications to maintain appropriate and thorough records, maintenance and inspection forms, training aids, and on-board aircraft survival equipment;
  • Assisting in the safety of the shop, hanger, and flight line;
  • Conducting life support and survival continuation training for assigned personnel;
  • Planning and performing inspections on ITPS ALSE equipment for aircrews as per established procedures;
  • Carrying out periodic inspections on various survival equipment used by ITPS;
  • Maintaining the ITPS ALSE inventory;
  • Fitting new ITPS students and aircrew with ALSE equipment;
  • Ordering the required equipment for new personnel as directed;
  • Performing repairs on ALSE equipment, as detailed in established procedures;
  • Participating in seat removal/installations as required;
  • Acting as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all ALSE related topics, including the ejection seat;
  • Maintaining the ALSE Support Centre in a clean and tidy condition;
  • Pursuing initiatives to improve ALSE equipment in an economical fashion;
  • Performing general administrative duties related to the ALSE Support Centre’s operations;
  • Carrying out dinghy drill and emergency egress training for ITPS students and aircrew personnel;
  • Developing and performing training on ITPS ALSE equipment inspections for other ITPS technicians;
  • Maintaining compliance with all ITPS policies and procedures;
  • If available, assisting in flight line prep and procedures; and
  • Performing other duties as instructed by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Completion of a two to three-year college program in avionics or electronics or equivalent training from a military institution or otherwise.
  • 5+ years of related Egress experience.
  • Martin Baker Type Ejection Seat Maintenance experience or training preferred.
  • VS1-BRI-8 U2 Type Seats -Level 2 Maintenance experience or training preferred.
  • Must have completed Parachute Rigger course.
  • Experience in the use of Special Test Equipment.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with the following:
  • Fitment and removal of Ejection Seats and safety Equipment.
  • Maintaining accurate Records and Log-cards
  • Training all personnel entering the Aircraft Cockpit fitted with Active Seats.
  • Level 1, 2 and 3 Briefing Pilots, Students and Ground crew.
  • Training First Responders (Airport Fire Crew) in Rescue Procedures.
  • Equipment related certification is an asset.
  • Leadership, communication and people skills and the ability to accept responsibility.
  • Attention to detail and results oriented.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and undergo required fingerprinting.
