Job summary

Summit Air in Yellowknife, NT is seeking a Mechanic’s Helper to support maintenance of aircraft ground service equipment and general facilities. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, assist with troubleshooting, and help keep equipment and tools in safe, working condition.

The role requires a practical approach, basic mechanical aptitude, and the ability to follow directions and learn quickly while working well alone or with others.

Qualifications

  • 0-4 years experience in a maintenance shop environment.
  • Experience in servicing and repairing motorized vehicles and industrial equipment an asset.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Problem-solving skills, technical aptitude, strong work ethic, ability to take direction and learn quickly, strong verbal, written and computer skills.
  • Ability to work well with others and alone.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs aircraft ground service equipment in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Performs troubleshooting of aircraft ground support equipment on a scheduled/unscheduled basis.
  • Performs immediate repairs and preventative maintenance on company equipment.
  • Maintains and makes repairs to facilities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintains Equipment status report along with updating equipment service intervals.
  • Liaises with vendors and secures favorable pricing of parts and services; initiates purchase orders.
