Jim Pattison Hyundai Northshore is seeking Automotive Technicians from Level 1–4 Apprentices through to Red Seal Certified Technicians to join our Service Department. This role offers opportunities to build skills and advance your career with a supportive team.

You’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles, perform inspections, and work closely with Service Advisors to meet repair timelines and ensure quality. Driver’s Abstract required; competitive wages and benefits provided.

Qualifications

• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills; detail oriented and able to multi‑task.
• Enrolled in or pursuing an Automotive Service Technician apprenticeship.
• Red Seal Certified Technicians encouraged to apply or pursuing Red Seal.
• Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmissions.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles per manufacturer and dealership standards.
• Perform thorough vehicle inspections with accurate documentation.
• Identify mechanical and electrical issues and communicate findings to the service team.
• Coordinate with Service Advisors on repair timelines and warranty work.
• Conduct road tests and pre-delivery inspections on new inventory.
• Source parts with Parts Department and manage warranty labeling.
• Assist fellow technicians to maintain shop productivity.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Follow company policies and safety standards; protect confidentiality.
• Participate in a supportive, engaging working environment.

Job description

Jim Pattison Hyundai Northshore is looking for Automotive Technicians from Level 1–4 Apprentices through to Red Seal Certified Technicians to join our Service Department.

Whether you’re just starting your apprenticeship, working toward your Red Seal, or already an experienced Red Seal Technician, this is an opportunity to build your skills and grow your career with a supportive and experienced team.

As a Hyundai Service Technician, you’ll work on a variety of vehicles while developing your technical skills and gaining hands‑on experience. You’ll perform maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs in line with Hyundai and dealership standards for safety, quality, and performance.

A Day in the Life

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles in accordance with manufacturer and dealership standards
• Perform thorough vehicle inspections with accurate documentation and measurements
• Identify mechanical and electrical issues, recommend solutions, and communicate findings clearly to Service team
• Partner with Service Advisors to provide updates on repair timelines or recommend additional safety work
• Conduct road tests and pre-delivery inspections on new inventory to ensure every vehicle leaving the shop is in top condition
• Coordinate with the Parts Department to source what you need and manage warranty labeling
• Assist fellow technicians when needed to maintain overall shop productivity
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
• Ensure a high degree of confidentiality with company and customer information
• Participate in maintaining a supportive and engaging working environment

What We’re Looking For

• Level 1, 2, 3, or 4 Apprentice Technician, or Red Seal Certified Technician
• Previous automotive service experience is an asset
• Currently enrolled in or actively working toward an Automotive Service Technician apprenticeship
• Red Seal Certified Technicians are encouraged to apply, or candidates who are currently eligible and actively pursuing Red Seal certification
• Able to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with a keen attention to detail
• Detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast‑paced environment
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable
• Ability to work the physical requirements of a service technician role
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • High level of mobility, dexterity, endurance, and sensory awareness
• Ability to work in an automotive shop environment
  • Indoor automotive shop with multiple service bays
  • Exposure to noise (engines, air tools), fumes (exhaust, solvents), and dust
  • Work performed around moving vehicles, hoists, and heavy equipment
  • Temperature can vary (shops may be cooler in winter, warmer in summer despite heating/ventilation)
