Job summary

Kuehne+Nagel is seeking a Contract Logistics Specialist in Mississauga to manage end-to-end warehousing operations with a strong focus on automation and continuous improvement.

You will lead the site engineering team, coordinate automation projects with production and maintenance, and drive SOPs and reporting for efficient operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years experience as a Controls Engineer with heavily automated warehousing.
  • Deep knowledge of automated material handling equipment including KNAPP/HAI robotics and G2P systems.
  • Solid understanding of the project life cycle for automated material handling.
  • CAD experience preferred; advanced Excel/Minitab and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead warehouse automation projects and improvements.
  • Post go-live leadership of the site engineering team.
  • Coordinate site engineering and automation projects with production teams.
  • Partner with maintenance and vendors for issue remediation.
  • Create, deliver, and train on SOPs for automation.
  • Produce internal and external reports on operations.

Job description

Overview

As a Contract Logistics Specialist at Kuehne+Nagel, you will manage end-to-end warehousing operations for our customers, ensuring precision and success of the team and day‑to‑day operations in the warehouse and distribution centres. For example, storing and delivering delicate flowers and fresh ingredients to local stores for everyday lunches and family celebrations.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for owning warehouse automation and management of complex operations, including those with hyper‑automation systems. Reporting to the General Manager, you will have dotted‑line control of site‑based production systems and automation engineering. This role involves analyzing operational needs regularly, designing, implementing, delivering solutions, and working directly with the Continuous Improvement team for enhancements.

Key duties:

  • Lead the site engineering team post go‑live.
  • Provide front‑facing representation for the company and customer.
  • Coordinate site industrial engineering and automation engineering projects; synchronize the two functions for efficient singular output and productive operation.
  • Work with local maintenance and vendors for remediation of issues.
  • Create, deliver, and train the site operations team on SOPs related to automation.
  • Manage day‑to‑day health automation, including coordination with 3rd‑party vendors.
  • Create and present related internal and external reports.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years experience as a Controls Engineer preferred with strong focus on heavily automated warehousing involving case conveyors, pallets, sorters, etc.
  • Deep knowledge and application of automated material handling equipment such as KNAPP robotics, HAI robotics, Goods‑to‑Person, AS/RS, AGVs, AMRs, etc.
  • Solid understanding of the project life cycle for automated material handling systems.
  • CAD software experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and/or Minitab and analytical skills with system diagnostics and continuous improvement.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt is a plus.
  • PMP certification is a plus.
  • Ability to multi‑task and handle project tracking with the expectation of meeting deadlines.
Benefits and Compensation

Salary range: $66,170 – $82,713. Base wage is part of a competitive total rewards package that includes health and dental benefits, a retirement savings plan, and tuition reimbursement. Individual pay may vary within the target range based on experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
