Job summary

Johnson Electric in Ancaster, ON is seeking an Automation Electrical Designer to lead electrical and machine safety system design for complex automation projects. You will mentor designers, establish standards, and ensure compliance with safety, performance, and quality requirements.

The role may be at Intermediate or Senior level and requires 4+ years of experience, proficiency with EPLAN and safety PLCs, robotics integration, and strong knowledge of CSA and ESA regulations.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of electrical design experience in industrial automation.
  • Expert level proficiency with EPLAN and control system design.
  • Strong knowledge of CSA Z432/CSA Z434/CSA Z142 and ESA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical system design for automated assembly and manufacturing systems.
  • Conduct design reviews and approve project deliverables.
  • Mentor junior designers and drive standardization of practices.
  • Support customer meetings and technical reviews.
  • Investigate and implement emerging automation technologies.

This role provides engineering leadership, establishes design standards, mentors team members, and ensures all systems meet applicable safety, performance, and quality requirements. This position may be hired at either the Intermediate or Senior Automation Mechanical Designer level.
