Job Description
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Learn customer processes and become a local expert to support machine design and integration, ensuring specifications are met.
- Travel domestically and internationally to support sales, system testing, and equipment acceptance.
- Assist in proposal preparation, including responding to customer specifications, analyses, and budgeting.
- Identify high-risk system elements and develop mitigation strategies.
- Support or lead automation concept development to meet functional and critical requirements.
- Create models or conduct experiments to validate designs.
- Perform hands-on testing to mitigate technical risks.
- Define and document automation requirements, specifications, and engineering documents.
- Lead complex technical challenges and develop recommended solutions.
- Drive performance improvements through root cause analysis and data analysis.
Systems engineering tasks include analysis and design support for system accuracy, cycle-time, vibration, hazards, thermal analysis, metrology, kinematics, reliability, simulations, testing, statistical analysis, and FMEA. Lead or participate in design reviews and coordinate with suppliers.
Innovation and technology assessment responsibilities include design, development, testing, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
QualificationsEducation: Post-secondary Engineering degree in Systems, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Physics, Software, or equivalent. Master’s preferred.
Experience: Experience with automation, motion controls, robotics, vision systems, R&D, testing, simulations, problem solving, and statistical analysis is preferred. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
