Job summary

Canucks Autism Network (CAN) programs give children on the autism spectrum a place to learn sports skills, engage in new activities, and socialize with their peers without the fear of acceptance or the worry of competition. CAN provides a fun and engaging environment where the pace of instruction can be modified to meet our participant’s individual needs.

CAN is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Swim Coaches to join our team.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Minimum 1 year coaching children/youth sport or leading group activities.
• Comfortable in all depths of the pool.
• Valid CPR-C and Standard First Aid certifications.
• Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certification or Red Cross WSI + Lifesaving Society options.
• Punctual and reliable with 100% attendance.
• Autism experience is an asset.
• Able to provide references and clear criminal record check.
• Fun, enthusiastic, motivated and a positive team player.

Responsibilities

• Lead skill development of participants and implement CAN program curriculum.
• Create a positive, fun learning environment under Onsite Supervisors.
• Provide guidance to Support Workers and Volunteers during program time.
• Receive in-house training, mentorship and work with small class sizes.
• Ensure sessions run smoothly with appropriate equipment and setup.
