The technician will install, test, operate and troubleshoot AV gear, coordinate with clients and teams, and help deliver high-quality productions during live broadcasts. Weekend shifts and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in broadcasting or A/V technologies or equivalent training.
  • Experience operating videoconference, teleconference, broadcasting and public address systems.
  • Experience installing, configuring, testing, operating and supporting A/V equipment in live events.
  • Experience coordinating with clients and technical teams for live productions.
  • Experience bilingual environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, operate and troubleshoot teleconferencing, videoconferencing, audio-visual and broadcast systems.
  • Coordinate with clients, technical teams and external partners to support live productions.
  • During broadcasts, manage audio, video, graphics and camera operations to ensure quality.

Job description

The House of Commons' Digital Services and Real Property is currently looking to staff the Audio-Visual Production Technician position(s).

This position requires on-site presence five (5) days per week.

The Digital Media Operations team supports parliamentary communications through the Parliamentary Television Network. The team delivers live broadcasts of House of Commons Chamber sittings and committee meetings, streams proceedings to parliamentary websites, collaborates with CPAC, and provides the technical production for House of Commons and Senate proceedings and other parliamentary events.

As an Audio-Visual Production Technician, you will contribute to the delivery of multimedia services that enable parliamentary proceedings and events. Working under the guidance of a Television Director or Team Lead, you will install, test, operate and troubleshoot teleconferencing, videoconferencing, audio-visual and broadcast systems. You will coordinate with parliamentary clients, technical teams and external partners to support the production of House of Commons, Senate and committee proceedings, caucus meetings and special events. During live broadcasts, you will help ensure the delivery of high-quality productions by coordinating technical elements such as audio, video, graphics and camera operations.

In accordance with operational needs, you may be required to work shift work and on weekends and, if necessary, to work overtime on short notice; as well as be on operational standby.

Education :

Post-secondary diploma in a broadcasting-related field, multimedia or audio-visual (A/V) technologies and/or equivalent training and experience in the professional A/V or broadcasting field.

Experiences:
  • Experience operating videoconference, teleconference, broadcasting and public address systems;
  • Experience operating broadcast television equipment in a professional multi-camera live production environment, including sound judgement in camera framing, composition and shot selection;
  • Experience installing, configuring, testing, operating and supporting audio-visual equipment and systems in a live event environment;
  • Experience integrating videoconferencing, audio-visual and broadcast technologies to support live productions or events;
  • Experience troubleshooting and providing first-level maintenance for a variety of audio-visual and broadcasting equipment;
  • Experience coordinating with clients, technical teams and external partners to support live productions or events.
Assets:
  • Experience working in a bilingual environment.
