Job summary

Waterloo IIE 2016 is seeking a Conference AV Coordinator to work with the planning team to assess technical requirements and plan equipment for each event. The role includes setting up and operating AV gear, coordinating with host hotels and university IT staff, and liaising with third-party vendors to deliver exceptional attendee experiences.

Prior AV technician experience and a team-focused, good-humored attitude are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assess and understand technical requirements for each conference.
• Plan equipment implementation for each event and coordinate sourcing and setup.
• Set up and operate AV equipment including microphones, speakers, screens, projectors, cables, and mixing boards.
• Coordinate with host hotel to align capabilities with event needs.
• Liaise with UWaterloo IST and third-party vendors as needed.

Job description

This coordinator will be responsible for:

• working with other members of the Conference Planning Team to asses/understand the techincal requirements ofeach conference even t
• plan the implementation of the required equipment for each event (answering questions such as: where will the equipment come from? who will be setting it up? will it require an operator?, etc.)
• in some cases he/she will setup and operate audio / visual equipment (including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards, etc.)
• working with our host hotel to establish their technical capibilities and aligning them with our requirements on a per event basis
• liasoning with UWaterloo IST and other 3rd party vendors as needed

• has experience as an audio/visualtechnician
• is a fast problem solver and is able to think on their feet and make use of theresources available to them
