Overview

Element has an opportunity for an Associate Mechanical Test Technician to join our rapidly expanding team in Kitchener, ON. As a member of the operations team in one of the various laboratories across Element, the Associate Test Technician performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned, ensuring timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician must be proficient in core business skills including safety compliance, code of conduct, and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Element safety procedures and requirements
  • Review and understand technical test specifications with attention to detailed requirements
  • Design/build modular test stands/fixtures with instrumentation for product testing (e.g., environmental, vibration, durability, hydraulics)
  • Execute and assist with materials tests including environmental simulation, durability, tensile, impact, shock, corrosion, vibration, microscopy
  • Test various materials and products such as plastics, metals, fabrics, electro-mechanical or electronic assemblies in automotive, military, aerospace, electronics, or consumer industries
  • Set up and verify test equipment
  • Maintain test notes and records according to Quality Manual and SOPs
  • Enter data and generate reports from templates
  • Track project and technical time via computerized system
  • Support the team to ensure testing and reporting commitments are met
  • Contribute to Element’s Quality System and SOPs

Skills / Qualifications

  • College graduate or higher qualification
  • At least 2 years relevant experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Contact Management System
  • Experience with data acquisition and signal conditioning
  • Physical fitness to withstand challenging working conditions
  • Strong quality focus and determination
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated team player with good organizational and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and apply new skills
