Job description

Technician Assistant - Rehab
Lake Country, BC

Tri Lake Animal Hospital & Referral Centre in Winfield, BC, is expanding their specialty Rehabilitation services. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated full-time Veterinary Assistant to support this department.

Prior experience with a specialty service is NOT required; however, it will be considered a significant asset.

Why We Need You

We are looking for someone that has an interest in rehabilitation medicine, a passion for patient care, works well in a team environment, has strong organizational skills, great attention to detail, and enjoys building relationships. This service prides itself on developing close relationships with clients and providing excellent client communication. As such, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate an aptitude for excellent client service, as well as confidence with administrative skills.

Additionally, the rehabilitation service requires candidates to possess excellent personal fitness, the ability to lift disabled dogs, stand for extended periods, and be on the floor with patients.

The skills that you will be trained to utilize include, but are not limited to:

  • Restraint and lifting of patients
  • Assisting with radiographs and CT scans
  • Assisting with the collection and submission of blood and other lab samples
  • Preparing medications and supplies for clients to take home
  • Client communication, education, and appointment schedule management
  • Electronic medical record keeping
  • Knowledge of animal anatomy & behaviour
  • Assisting & supporting rehabilitation evaluations & treatments
  • Handling and maintaining specialized equipment, including setup, cleaning and sterilization
  • Housekeeping duties
  • Positive outlook and enthusiasm for learning
  • Demonstrate initiative in carrying out assignments independently

Compensation: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour. The hourly rate range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
