The Opportunity
Peak Power is looking for a dynamic Associate to join the Strategic Finance team. This role will report to the Director, Strategic Finance and work closely with the Senior Associate, Strategic Finance to support data-driven decision-making through research, analysis, and reporting. You will be responsible for evaluating prospective development opportunities to determine whether they are financially feasible based on the type of project and its location (within continental North America), in addition to supporting Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) activities. You will also get to collaborate with Business Development, Operations, and the Energy Markets teams.
Our Associate, Strategic Finance will :
Deliver. You will develop financial models and investment analyses to support Distributed Energy Resource (“DER”) projects across key North American markets. Your work will help underwrite sales, acquisitions, project development, financing, and strategic partnerships :
Build and maintain financial models that capture the full value stack of DER projects, tailored to specific market dynamics and project types Support due diligence processes, including financial, technical, environmental, and regulatory assessments to ensure project viability
Analyse. You will turn data into actionable insights by reviewing financial performance, identifying trends, and providing recommendations that enhance both project and company-wide decision-making :
Understand key operational drivers and translate them into accurate financial forecasts and performance insights
Report. You will present financial models, investment analysis and recommendations with supporting findings to aid in key strategic decisions :
Prepare presentations, dashboards, and investment summaries for internal leadership, financing partners, and Peak Power's board of directors Articulate complex financial information in a concise, compelling, and audience-appropriate format
Collaborate. You will work with cross-functional team members to deepen your understanding of DER projects and key energy markets which Peak Power operates in :
Stay abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes, and advancements in renewable energy technologies; Understand and evaluate the value stack, revenue opportunities and incentives in across North American energy markets; and Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Grow. You are a proactive problem-solver with an eye for continuous improvement. You will identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, operational efficiency, and strategic growth :
Support initiatives that contribute to Peak Power's long-term vision and expansion of its energy asset portfolio; and Leverage critical thinking and financial expertise to support scalable, data-driven decision-making across the organization.
What you bring to Peak Power :
The experience and education.
2+ years of experience preferred within Strategic Finance, Corporate Development or Investment Banking in North America's renewable energy assets; experience with energy storage projects or distributed energy projects is considered a plus; Knowledge of wholesale energy markets in the North American ISOs will be considered a plus; Strong financial modelling and analytical skills; Experience presenting recommendations and summarizing financial analysis to internal and external stakeholders; An understanding of project finance and development concepts; and Organized, diligent, and able to track and manage multiple streams of information on an ongoing basis.
