McCormick Canada in London, Ontario is seeking an Associate Product Development Scientist on a contract basis to assist in developing new products and optimizing existing formulations under guidance from Senior PD staff.   • Coordinate with ingredient vendors for information or samples as required for project activities.
  • Provide technical support and problem solving for customers in CPD, including Marketing, QA and Operations.
  • Stay up to date with global technical advancements from internal and external sources.
  • Work with external co-packers/MC facilities to develop or modify products.
  • Assist other PD staff and participate on cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and customer expectations.

McCormick Canada is currently looking to hire an Associate Product Development Scientist to join our Product Development team. This position is located at our London location.

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of Senior Product Development staff, the Associate PD Scientist will assist in the development of innovative new products and the optimization of existing products per project guidelines, including but not limited to cost parameters, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conducts product/ingredient research, benchtop formulation, sample application preparation, sample labelling, product/application evaluation and commercialization activities including scale-up to production
  • Responsible for timely and accurate updating of formulations, ingredients, technology and files including protecting all proprietary information
  • Contacts ingredient vendors for information or samples as required for project activities or as directed by Senior PD staff
  • Provides technical support and problem solving internally for customers in the CPD business segment, including Marketing, Quality Assurance, and Operations
  • Stays up to date with Global Technical Advancements from both Internal and External sources
  • Works with external co-packers/other McCormick facilities to develop and launch/modify products
  • Performs assigned tasks to assist other PD staff and participates on cross-functional teams including QA, Regulatory, Marketing and Operations, as required
  • Plans and prioritizes work to ensure deadlines and customer expectations are met

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Food Science or related field
  • Experience in food technology or food processing is an asset
  • Team player with meticulous attention to detail, who possesses the ability to think creatively, is intellectually curious, has a willingness to learn and grow, along with excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple project priorities
  • Conducts self in a professional manner with excellent communication and collaboration skills exercised across all levels and functions within McCormick and externally with customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in high pressure, sensitive situations
  • Flexible to work overtime when needed and travel to McCormick and customer’s facilities
