Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, continuous and/or discrete optimization, online algorithms and sequential decision-making, (algorithmic) game theory, mechanism and market design, decision-focused learning, and other emerging and related areas at the intersection of Operations Research and Artificial Intelligence.
Candidates must have earned a PhD degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related areas, with a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths . Ideally, candidates should also demonstrate an awareness of modern machine learning and AI in their research .
Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, as well as strong endorsements from referees.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below), as well as strong letters of reference.
Candidates will have an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research, and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
In addition, the successful candidate will be assigned a teaching and service load.
The rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The upper end of the salary range for this position exceeds $200,000 CAD per annum. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
