The opportunity
CBC Windsor is looking for an energetic and enterprising Associate Producer/Technician to play a vital role on our early morning program Windsor Morning.
This position balances journalistic storytelling and live-to-air radio engineering. You will operate the console, troubleshoot issues, ensure high-quality sound, and be a calm presence in a fast-paced environment. You will also engage in team discussions, pitch stories, and produce content for multiple platforms.
You should have proven experience in live radio, skills in audio editing and mixing, and the ability to create engaging content. Comfort on air, strong communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure are essential.
Key tasks

  • Engineer and direct live or recorded programs, ensuring excellent audio quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during broadcasts.
  • Manage equipment, facilities, and personnel to meet operational needs.
  • Set up and operate broadcast equipment.
  • Program music, sound effects, and audio content fitting the show’s mandate.
  • Generate story ideas, gather and edit audio, research, and write scripts.
  • Present on-air as needed.
  • Coordinate technical and production resources.
  • Maintain organizational efficiency and meet deadlines.
  • Work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Candidate requirements:

  • University degree or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience, with at least 3 in broadcasting or related fields.
  • Strong background in live radio engineering.
  • Deep knowledge of Windsor-Essex community and issues.
  • Solid journalistic and production skills.
  • Ability to develop stories and contacts.
  • Quick, efficient multitasking and deadline management.
  • Calm under pressure, flexible, and innovative.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable on-air presenting.
  • Creative sound use and openness to new ideas.
  • Understanding of the need for flexible shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
