Job summary

Orennia is seeking a motivated Associate, Analytics to join its Calgary team. You will build and enhance our analytics solution and interact directly with clients to address challenging questions across energy transition sectors.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams on battery storage, power markets, data centers, and decarbonization, contributing to a net-zero future while growing with a fast-paced startup.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or Finance.
  • Strong analytical ability including statistical methods and optimization concepts.
  • Programming, database and software skills (VBA, Python, Excel, SQL).
  • Experience or demonstrable passion in data centers, renewable energy and power markets.
  • Ability to work in a team with interdisciplinary colleagues.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to market analysis across energy transition sectors.
  • Develop advanced analytical models that leverage large data sets to provide insights to our clients.
  • Develop long-term fundamental price forecasts across multiple sectors in North America using optimization models.
  • Develop tools and models to streamline data collection, management and reporting for large datasets and modeling results.
  • Work closely with clients to create customized solutions to their most pressing problems.
  • Develop and maintain forecast models for data centers, power producers and ISO regions.
  • Participate in conference calls and meetings with clients and prospects, showcasing our solutions.

The Opportunity

As an Associate, you will play a crucial role in building and enhancing our analytics solution. You will leverage it to interact directly with our clients and help answer some of the hardest questions facing industry and investors today. As we continue to expand, we are looking to add to our growing research teams within battery storage, power markets, data centers, and decarbonization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and engage with a variety of subject matter experts and perspectives. Our people are passionate and have a strong belief in our mission. What You’ll Do
  • Contribute to market analysis across energy transition sectors.
  • Develop advanced analytical models that leverage large data sets to provide insights to our clients.
  • You will contribute to the development of our long-term fundamental price forecasts across multiple sectors in North America using advanced linear programming optimization models.
  • You will develop tools and models to streamline the collection, management and reporting process for large datasets and modeling results.
  • Work closely with our clients to create customized solutions to their most pressing and complex problems.
  • Develop and maintain forecast models for data centers, power producers and ISO regions.
  • Participate in conference calls, virtual and in-person meetings with clients and prospects, leveraging and demonstrating our solutions.
Who You Are
  • 0-4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Completed bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Mathematics/Computer Science/Finance.
  • Strong analytical ability including statistical methods and optimization concepts.
  • Programming, database and software skills (VBA, Python, Excel, SQL).
  • Experience or demonstrable passion in data centers, renewable energy and power markets.
  • You have the ability to work in a team setting with others from varying disciplines.
  • Excellent written and communication skills with an ability to explain complex problems.
  • You have strong attention to detail and are comfortable working with large data sets.
