What you'll be doing
CIBC Asset Management (CIBC AM) is one of Canada's largest asset management firms with approximately $180 billion in assets under management and possess over forty-five years of experience designing and implementing client solutions. We are leaders in providing a broad range of high-quality global investment management solutions to retail and institutional clients. As a member of the Global Beta, Outcomes and Overlay Management team, you’ll work in an innovative, detail oriented team which oversees over $32 billion in Passive and Structured Product mandates across various assets classes (Equities, Fixed Income, Commodities, etc.), including derivative products. As an Assistant Portfolio Manager, Global Beta you will contribute to the management and oversight of various passive mandates, Fund of Funds and ETFs and their related initiatives.

How you'll succeed
Portfolio Management. Assist with the management of portfolios (Mutual Funds, Institutional accounts, Fund of Funds, ETFs, etc.) according to Investment Policy Guidelines across multiple asset classes, using a variety of replication techniques including derivatives. Manage the process to roll derivatives instruments as well as implementing and monitoring overlays or hedging strategies in relevant accounts. Participate in the management of the relations with counterparties, monitor and report on market conditions and executions, resolve settlement issues etc. for passive portfolios, Fund of Funds and ETFs
Investment Research. Research and build indicators/processes to optimize/enhance replications technics, systematic overlays strategies and risk hedging. Develop tools and propose solutions for new mandates using a variety of investment instruments and methods of replication, analyzing implementation costs and expected tracking error to create a proposal that fits the client’s investment objectives.
Systems Development. Understand all investment processes surrounding passive, fund of fund and ETF implementation and work with team members and related teams to develop and maintain sound and reliable systems and control tools. Contribute alongside team members in helping scale the ETF business through operational and technological process improvements.
Brand building & business growth.Assist with growing interest in the Global Beta, Outcomes and Overlay Management Team capabilities by working with client and product teams in developing and assisting with presentations on new products, investment strategies, and building a strong CIBC Asset Management brand for customized, client-focused solutions for asset owners and consultants.
Who you are
You have a undergraduate or graduate university degree, preferably in Commerce, Economics or a quantitative field of study
You’re a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing in either the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation. It’s an asset if you have completed your Options or Futures Licensing courses.
You can demonstrate 10 years of experience in institutional asset management or a related field. It’s an asset if you have experience with global fixed income within passive, Fund of Fund or ETF mandates.
You’re digitally savvy.You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends. You possess proficiency in VBA, SQL, and MATLAB or Python. You know that details matter. You notice things that others don’t. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.

You're fluent in French and English to support business operations outside of Quebec, Canada .
