CIBC Asset Management (CIBC AM) is one of Canada's largest asset management firms with approximately $180 billion in assets under management and over forty-five years of experience designing and implementing client solutions. We are leaders in providing a broad range of high-quality global investment management solutions to retail and institutional clients. As a member of the Global Beta, Outcomes and Overlay Management team, you’ll work in an innovative, detail-oriented team overseeing over $32 billion in Passive and Structured Product mandates across various asset classes (Equities, Fixed Income, Commodities, etc.), including derivative products. As an Assistant Portfolio Manager, Global Beta, you will contribute to the management and oversight of various passive mandates, Fund of Funds, and ETFs, along with related initiatives.
Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.
Portfolio Management. Assist with managing portfolios (Mutual Funds, Institutional accounts, Fund of Funds, ETFs, etc.) according to Investment Policy Guidelines across multiple asset classes, using various replication techniques including derivatives. Manage the process to roll derivatives instruments, implement, and monitor overlays or hedging strategies in relevant accounts. Participate in managing relations with counterparties, monitor and report on market conditions and executions, resolve settlement issues, etc., for passive portfolios, Fund of Funds, and ETFs.
Investment Research. Research and develop indicators/processes to optimize/enhance replication techniques, systematic overlay strategies, and risk hedging. Develop tools and propose solutions for new mandates using a variety of investment instruments and methods of replication, analyzing implementation costs and expected tracking error to create proposals aligned with client investment objectives.
Systems Development. Understand all investment processes surrounding passive, fund of fund, and ETF implementation. Collaborate with team members and related teams to develop and maintain reliable systems and control tools. Contribute to scaling the ETF business through operational and technological process improvements.
Brand building & business growth. Support growth of the Global Beta, Outcomes, and Overlay Management capabilities by working with client and product teams on presentations for new products and strategies, and by strengthening CIBC Asset Management's brand for customized, client-focused solutions for asset owners and consultants.
You have a university degree, preferably in Commerce, Economics, or a quantitative field.
You’re a certified professional. You hold current accreditation in the CFA or CIM designation. Completion of Options or Futures Licensing courses is a plus.
You demonstrate 10 years of experience in institutional asset management or a related field. Experience with global fixed income within passive, Fund of Fund, or ETF mandates is advantageous.
You’re digitally savvy. You seek innovative solutions, embrace evolving technologies, and are proficient in VBA, SQL, and MATLAB or Python. Attention to detail and critical thinking are essential.

You are fluent in French and English to support operations outside Quebec, Canada.
