The Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto is seeking applications for the inaugural AbbVie Chair in Ethnodermatology.
The successful candidate will either currently hold, or be eligible to hold, a full-time clinical faculty appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in the Division of Dermatology, Department of Medicine, at the University of Toronto. The Chair term is five years, renewable once for a second 5-year term. The tentative start date of this appointment is July 1, 2025, or as mutually agreed upon.
The AbbVie Chair in Ethnodermatology was established to advance education and research in Ethnodermatology, an emerging field exploring the intersection of dermatologic health, skin biology, ethno-racial diversity, and medical education for underserved populations. The successful candidate will be a nationally recognized academic physician with expertise in clinical or basic science discovery, educational scholarship, or related areas in Ethnodermatology.
The chairholder will mentor medical learners and provide leadership for faculty and trainees, developing practices that expand capacity and knowledge in Ethnodermatology. They should demonstrate excellence in academic productivity and leadership, with a record of scholarly activity, grants, peer-reviewed publications, program development, and collaboration nationally and internationally. Contributions to teaching, mentorship, and strong administrative and interpersonal skills are also essential.
The candidate must hold an MD degree and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
The endowed chair will support academic activities, including salary, research operations, and educational events.
