A career as an Associate in the Mergers and Acquisitions team at National Bank means being an expert in supporting all coverage groups. This role will allow you to have a positive impact on our clients, due to your financial analysis and modeling skills. As an M&A Associate, you will actively participate in a wide variety of transactions headed by senior members of the M&A team. Your Job :

  • Organizing and developing presentation materials supporting our clients’ capital decision-making
  • Conducting complex financial analysis and modeling in support of transactions
  • Originating and executing M&A and other advisory services
  • Conducting a variety of industry and company research and analysis
  • Performing various tasks supporting senior team members in their deal execution and client coverage efforts

Your Team : National Bank Financial Markets ("NBF") is a full-service, fully integrated investment dealer with a strong national presence and international capabilities. An established player in the Canadian markets, NBF is committed to adding high caliber resources to its Corporate & Investment Banking group. This group currently consists of approximately 400 professionals located in offices in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, and New York. The Investment Banking group at NBF has demonstrated considerable momentum over the last few years, experiencing record profits and strong growth in deal flow. The Toronto-based M&A team is looking for an Associate to play an important role in supporting all client coverage groups as part of their strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions. You can expect to join a dedicated and hard-working group of professionals who believe that the best results are achieved through effective communication, teamwork and determination. This role will appeal to highly motivated individuals with experience in investment banking and corporate finance seeking to further develop their careers in an entrepreneurial and high-energy environment. We are seeking a candidate who has demonstrated the ability to successfully contribute to the origination and execution of client mandates in a fast-paced environment. Emphasis is placed on financial analysis, M&A transaction modeling and written presentations, but the ideal candidate must also show the ability to interact effectively with clients and their advisors. This role is based in Toronto. Basic Requirements :

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, accounting or related field to the sector of activity
  • At least 3-4 years of investment banking, corporate finance or M&A experience
  • Strong analytical and exceptional financial modeling skills
  • Deal / transaction execution and project management experience
  • Knowledge of capital markets and investment banking applications
  • Proficiency in the creation of PowerPoint presentations and other written documents
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with time sensitive deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Fluency in French is considered an asset
