Qualifications

  • Licensed to practise law in Ontario (Ontario bar admission).
  • 1–3+ years of relevant legal experience.
  • Experience or interest in real estate, corporate law, wills & estates, family law, and general civil matters.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice across practice areas such as real estate, corporate law, wills & estates, family law, and general civil matters.
  • Draft and review contracts, wills, deeds, pleadings, and other legal instruments.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, settlements, transactions, and other legal proceedings.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analyse legislation, regulations, case law, and precedents.
  • Manage client files from start to finish with clear communication and professional handling.
  • Build long-term client relationships and provide practical, solution-oriented legal advice.

Position Overview

At KPA Lawyers Professional Corporation, we are seeking a motivated and client-focused Associate Lawyer to join our growing team in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity to work across a diverse range of matters, including real estate, corporate law, wills & estates, family law, and general civil matters.

The ideal candidate is looking for a supportive environment where they can take ownership of files, build strong client relationships, and grow their practice while working alongside an experienced and collaborative team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients across various practice areas, including real estate, corporate law, wills & estates, family law, and general civil matters.
  • Prepare, review, and draft legal documents, including contracts, wills, agreements, deeds, pleadings, and other legal instruments.
  • Represent and advocate for clients in negotiations, settlements, transactions, and other legal matters.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis of applicable legislation, regulations, case law, and legal precedents.
  • Manage files from start to finish while maintaining strong client communication and ensuring matters are handled efficiently and professionally.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients and provide practical, solution-oriented legal advice.
Requirements
  • Licensed to practice law in Ontario and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • 1–3+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably with exposure to multiple practice areas.
  • Experience or interest in one or more of the following areas: real estate, corporate law, wills & estates, family law, and general civil matters.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client files and provide practical, timely legal advice.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining Law Society of Ontario regulations and professional standards.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting correspondence and legal documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong judgment and initiative, with the ability to identify issues requiring immediate attention.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to ethical legal practice.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with legal technology and a willingness to learn new applications and systems.
