Job summary

Crossroads Law in Alberta is seeking lawyers with 1–4 years of experience in family law or estate litigation to join our modern, mentorship-driven firm. Qualifications

  • Law degree from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Licensed to practice in Alberta and in good standing.
  • 1–4 years of experience in family law or estate litigation.
  • Strong legal, analytical and courtroom skills.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients on family law issues, including Divorce and Separation, Child Custody and Parenting, Spousal and Child Support, Property Division, Adult Interdependent Relationships, Guardianship, Alternative Dispute Resolution.
  • Provide Independent Legal Advice and work with clients on flat rate agreements such as prenups, wills, cohabitation agreements or postnuptial agreements.
  • Manage and maintain an active family law caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Provide strategic legal guidance, attend court hearings and trials, negotiate settlements, and perform other legal duties as required.
  • Prepare witnesses and examinations for hearings and trial.
  • Maintain regular client communication and timely billing practices.
  • Issue monthly billings to clients and A/R collections.
  • Draft legal documents, conduct research, ensure compliance with legal regulations and manage case files.
  • Provide legal coaching services to clients.

We are currently looking for lawyers in Alberta practicing in family law, civil litigation and estate litigation who are ready to join our dynamic and modern law firm.

Qualifications / Skills
  • Law degree from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • A lawyer in good standing with the Law Society and licensed to practice in Alberta
  • One to four years of experience in family law, or estate litigation
  • Strong legal, analytical and courtroom skills
  • A solid understanding of billing procedures and practice
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Practices good client management and customer service skills
