Job summary

Qualifications

  • Coordinate Investment Counsellors’ meetings and prepare presentation material for clients.
  • Answer client inquiries via email/phone, including instructions for contributions, withdrawals, or transfers; requests for statements or reports; tax questions; new account openings.
  • Complete onboarding documentation and maintain up-to-date client files per compliance requirements.
  • Liaise with custody firms and internal departments on client matters; support business development and events.

Our Investment Services team is responsible for all aspects of the firm’s interaction with clients. This includes communicating the firm’s investment views, ensuring the efficient execution of any instructions and providing any reporting or other information that the client requires. The team is also responsible for developing relationships with prospective clients. The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly professional individual to assist our Investment Counsellors in maintaining and growing existing client relationships, and to support the team’s business development efforts. Serving a group of private and institutional customers, the Associate will be their primary point of contact for all administrative matters pertaining to their accounts.

As an integral member of the team, the Associate will also actively participate in various initiatives aimed at continuously improving customer satisfaction and engagement.

Main responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the Investment Counsellors’ meetings with existing or prospective clients and prepare all required presentation material in a timely manner.
  • Answer various email and telephone queries from clients and prospective clients, as well as their accountants or consultants, including:
  • Instructions for contributions, withdrawals, or transfers
  • Requests for statements or portfolio reports
  • Tax-related questions
  • Requests for new account openings
  • General questions about the firm and our services
  • Complete account opening documentation and efficiently manage the client onboarding process.
  • Obtain ongoing account documentation from clients and maintain up-to-date client files, as per regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Regularly liaise with custody companies and with other departments of the firm such as accounting, trading or compliance with regards to various client matters.
  • Assist with various business development and marketing efforts, such as proactive prospect outreach support, database management, analytics tracking and client events.
  • Perform various day-to-day administrative and office management tasks (e.g. greet clients and other visitors, order office and stationary supplies, manage incoming and outgoing mail, interact with our IT department to troubleshoot issues, make catering arrangements when required, etc.)
  • Establish a strong collaborative relationship with peers by proactively seeking and sharing useful information.
  • Familiarize yourself with Letko Brosseau’s investment approach and stay abreast of the firm’s strategy.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in business administration or a related field
  • Two to five years of experience working in the financial services industry
  • An interest in pursuing the CFA or CIM designation is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ease in learning new IT tools, such as portfolio management systems and client relationship management databases
  • Strong focus on customer service excellence
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organization, multitasking and priority management skills
  • Resourcefulness, problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously
  • High attention to detail
  • Team spirit and ability to thrive in a collaborative work environment
