We are seeking a motivated and meticulous Associate, Business Development to join our growing Institutional Asset Management team.

This role is critical in supporting the firm's growth initiatives by assisting in prospecting, client engagement, and strategic partnership development. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of financial markets and investment products. The selected candidate will join us in driving growth, building strong client partnerships and will be a candidate for expanded responsibilities

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Support senior business development professional sales and marketing activities in identifying and cultivating relationships with institutional investors
  • Prepare marketing and due diligence materials, including pitch books, RFPs/RFIs, investment summaries, and client reporting materials.
  • Conduct market and competitor research to identify new business opportunities and trends in the asset management industry
  • Support the generation of management reporting by maintaining and updating CRM dashboards, KPIs and ensuring accurate tracking reports on sales efforts and ongoing opportunities.
  • Collaborate with investment, marketing, legal, and client service teams to ensure consistent and timely delivery of client materials.
  • Participate in client meetings and industry events as needed, assisting with follow-up and documentation.
  • Analyze sales pipeline data to support strategy development and internal reporting.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • 3 to 7 years of relevant experience, which could include in investment consulting, portfolio management/research, institutional relationship management or financial markets
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial markets, investments and the needs of institutional investors and their consultants
  • Proactive team player with ability to prioritize, to thrive in a fast-paced environment, to show a high-level of professionalism and to pay great attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, listening, communication (both verbal and written), problem solving and resource management skills.
  • A self-starter who is equally at home working within cross-functional teams
