Associate I, Investigations, Diligence and Compliance - Specialist

The Associate, Investigations, Diligence, and Compliance is responsible for conducting research and analysis, managing resources, and preparing conclusions for clients. This role requires an imaginative and creative thinker with the ability to work to tight deadlines often balancing a significant and varied caseload. The incumbent will conduct in-depth research across a wide range of clients and industries, providing clarity in report writing. The candidate must demonstrate excellent judgment and be driven by professional excellence and a commitment to the Kroll brand. A keen interest in due diligence, business intelligence, litigation support, business strategy, and global markets is essential, given the variety of cases across industry sectors.

Day-to-day Responsibilities:

This entry-level position involves training in basic investigative techniques for projects within Kroll. Associates are expected to:

  1. Conduct research on companies, individuals, and events using diverse sources such as public databases, commercial and proprietary databases, and the internet, with an initial focus on due diligence.
  2. Identify and interview human sources to develop intelligence to support research.
  3. Plan research activities to meet project objectives.
  4. Master U.S. and Canadian public records databases, understanding their strengths, limitations, and appropriate uses.
  5. Identify patterns and abnormalities, interpreting their significance within context.
  6. Organize findings systematically to facilitate analysis and reporting.
  7. Verify and corroborate significant findings.
  8. Identify research gaps and follow leads within set parameters of objectives, timeframe, and budget.
  9. Present accurate and relevant findings to clients.
  10. Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  11. Working knowledge of French is a plus but not mandatory.
  12. Strong research and analytical skills with a proven track record.
  13. Effective writing skills, capable of summarizing information from multiple sources into concise assessments.
  14. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  15. Experience in business, law, investigations, or related fields is advantageous but not essential.
  16. Curiosity and eagerness to learn new skills.
