The Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto is seeking applicants for the position of Advisor, Postgraduate Education and Program Development. Applicants must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Successful completion of the Continuing Faculty Appointment Review (CFAR) is required. Preference will be given to applicants at the rank of Associate Professor or above, but consideration will be given to those at the Assistant Professor level. The Advisor appointment is for athree-year term, with the possibility of one renewal following a successful review. The anticipated start date is October 15, 2026, or another mutually agreed upon date.

The Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto oversees one of Canada's largest postgraduate medical education portfolios, comprising both PGY1 and PGY4-entry Royal College residency programs across multiple teaching hospitals and affiliated academic divisions. The Department is committed to excellence in postgraduate education through innovation, collaboration, continuous quality improvement and the development of outstanding educational leaders.

The Advisor, Postgraduate Education and Program Development is a Department-wide educational leadership position that is highly valued and plays an important role in supporting the success of the Department's postgraduate residency programs. Working closely with the Vice Chair, Education, Residency Program Directors, Department leadership and the postgraduate administrative team, the Advisor provides leadership in Program Director development, accreditation readiness, curriculum and assessment practices, continuous quality improvement, and the implementation of shared postgraduate education priorities across the Department. The Advisor reports directly to the Vice Chair, Education. This role is described in greater detail in the accompanying Job Description.

The ideal candidate is a respected clinician educator with demonstrated leadership in postgraduate medical education and experience as a Residency Program Director or other significant educational leadership role. They will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrate the ability to build collaborative relationships across programs and institutions, and have a strong understanding of Royal College accreditation standards, competency-based medical education, curriculum development, assessment practices and program quality improvement. Experience supporting educational innovation, mentoring educational leaders and advancing Department-wide initiatives would be considered strong assets.

Applicants must hold an MD degree, be certified by, or eligible for certification with, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and be eligible for licensure in Ontario.

The Advisor will receive an annual stipend from the Department of Medicine in the amount of $25,000 plus HST (if applicable). The position represents a 0.1 FTE leadership commitment and will be supported by the Department of Medicine Postgraduate administrative team.
