Job description

The Associate Financial Analyst is responsible for providing timely, accurate, and contract compliant claims to Canada. The role provides coaching and assistance to internal customers and complete ad hoc reporting and analysis to support the program as required. The Associate Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis and Supply Chain with the review and completion of the Financial Sections of ProcPacks for contracts being negotiated between ISI and external vendors.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or commerce with Accounting, Finance, or Economics major or equivalent education and experience.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Obtaining or working towards CPA designation is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in navigating within an ERP system.
  • Strong financial literacy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with and influence a wide range of individuals at all levels in the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to read and interpret data.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare progress claim packages for long-term projects.
  • Liaising with operational and financial personnel to gather all information relevant to the progress function.
  • Prepare reports and lead discussion with internal customers.
  • Develop and prepare various financial reporting products for internal and external customers.
  • Ensure contract compliance by having a firm understanding of the complex contracts that underpin our shipbuilding operations.
  • Financial Administrative Support to procurement of major equipment and material for long term contracts.
  • Ad hoc Financial analysis, reporting and special projects as required.
